Join us in our mission to protect, restore and educate
On January 20, the Friends kicked off a six-week membership drive, and I want to personally invite you to join us as a member during this exciting campaign. A donation of any amount $1 or more makes you a member. Why? I believe that we are stronger together.
The Friends were established in 2011 through the commitment and vision of local residents. Through hard work and the collaboration with organizations around the state and nationally, we were able to meet the goal of getting the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument designated. The broad base of support that led to the protection of our public lands shows the strength of our organization and our coalitions.
Today, our work to protect, restore and educate is more important than ever before. We have ambitious plans for 2017, focusing on on-the-ground programs that connect our community with our public lands, including our Artist In Residence Program, Every Kid in a Park, Monumental Trails, Monuments to Main Street, and the recently launched Nuestra Tierra Conservation Project. Bringing our community together to share in the natural, cultural and historic treasures that we all own, here in our own backyards, improves the quality of life for Southern New Mexico.
We have significant challenges ahead. That’s why the Friends needs your help to empower our region and state to be a leader in the fight to protect our public lands and uphold the values we believe to be important, including the right to access regardless of wealth, privilege or social standing.
I am committed now more than ever to make sure our work is a success. I ask you to join us.
