The Community Education & Outreach VISTA position is a Tribal Resilience AmeriCorps Service Opportunity hosted by Friends of Organ Mountains – Desert Peaks in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

The goal of the Community Education and Outreach VISTA is to connect diverse communities in Southern New Mexico to our public lands, specifically our National Conservation Lands, Organ Mountains Desert Peaks. This position will strengthen the Friends of Organ Mountains Desert Peaks capacity to serve our community through working with partners and organizations to achieve our organization’s mission.

The VISTA will help work with diverse organizations including schools, management agencies, business and partners to strengthen our program and education and outreach delivery. Specifically, the VISTA will coordinate education and outreach efforts for restoration, K-12 and community education programs through strategic program development, grant writing, engagement of membership and working with diverse partners to form strong coalitions. The VISTA will also extend the community outreach to area Tribal groups and communities, ensuring any community learning opportunities and experiences include all members of the community in a collaborative way.

This is a full-time position based out of the Friends of Organ Mountains – Desert Peaks office in Las Cruces, NM.
