KICK OFF –
November TBD
DangerBird is the annual kick-off event to bikepack the Monumental Loop – the informal route that connects all parts of the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument. This event started out with community bikers and now has expanded to inviting bikepackers from across New Mexico, across the United States, and even a few from across the Atlantic!
Thank you all for your support!
SafetyBird 2025
SafetyBird is an introduction to bikepacking on the Monumental Loop! This takes place during the weekend of DangerBird and is an overnight excursion into the OMDP National Monument.
Monumental Loop
The Monumental Loop is a 250 mile informal route that connects the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument! Unlike other national monuments, OMDP is divided by interstates. The half a million acres of protected landscape is separated into four parts: the Organ Mountains, the Doña Anas, the Sierra de Las Uvas, and the Portrillos. Every year, we organize an annual ride for bikepackers, and local cyclists to experience the entirety of this monument our community worked for years to protect through federal designation.
