DangerBird is the annual kick-off event to bikepack the Monumental Loop – the informal route that connects all parts of the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument. This event started out with community bikers and now has expanded to inviting bikepackers from across New Mexico, across the United States, and even a few from across the Atlantic!

Monumental Loop
The Monumental Loop is a love letter to the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument. OMDP is half a million acres of protected landscape is separated into four parts: the Organ Mountains, the Doña Anas, the Sierra de Las Uvas, and the Portrillos. Local mountain bikers and recreationists created the 250 mile Monumental Loop as a way to connect all four parts, making an informal route that highlights amazing features of OMDP. Every year, we organize an annual ride for bikepackers, and local cyclists to experience the entirety of this monument our community worked for years to protect through federal designation.
