Moving Montañas is our program to introduce youth to public lands through different types of outdoor recreation. We foster their connection and understanding of our Chihuahuan desert environment through experiences outside. Moving Montañas takes shape through collaboration with different community groups, school clubs, and organized field trips!
We help teachers facilitate afterschool programs geared to the outdoors by providing gear, snacks, curriculum/activities, and coordinating field trips. If you want to start an outdoor club at your school email Sarah@organmtnfriends.org.
Every Kids Outdoors is a national program that gives 4th graders and their families free access to parks, lands, and water throughout the US.
In partnership with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), we’re proud to offer a unique outdoor education experience as part of the Every Kid Outdoors national initiative, which gives 4th graders and their families free access to parks, public lands, and waters across the U.S.
Our program includes:
🧭 A classroom pre-visit with a hands-on activity
🥾 A guided hike on public lands
🌿 Interactive lessons focused on ecology, stewardship, and cultural history

When school is out we provide outdoor opportunities for students to enjoy! We offer summer programs, fall/spring camps for all ages. Kids enjoy activities such as hiking, fishing, archery, mountain biking, rock climbing, and learning about our local ecosystem. Sign up for our newsletter to stay up to date on our camps.
In partnership with Southern New Mexico Mountain Bike, we offer Mountain Bike clinics at 3 local schools. The goal is to introduce youth to biking by highlighting the joys and benefits of riding while developing riding skills from beginner to advanced. Follow our friends at SNMTB.
