Ryan Steinmetz serves as the Career Development Coordinator for the City of Las Cruces and has worked with the city for over eight years. Ryan developed a passion for the outdoors early on and is supportive of programming that gets everyone, especially youth, connected to the amazing landscapes we have in our region. Ryan has had a long career working with our Borderland community. He came to the region from Ohio as an AmeriCorps member with the Border Servant Corps in 2001 and returned to the region in 2004 to work with child witnesses of domestic violence at La Casa, Inc. In 2008, he became the director of the Border Servant Corps, and continued to develop youth programming in the community with Peace Village’s Peace Camp. He served as the Volunteer Coordinator and Teen Connection Program Supervisor with the City prior to his current position. Ryan is also involved with PFLAG Las Cruces and has worked to develop programming for the LGBTQ+ community. Ryan earned master’s degrees in both Public Administration and Counseling Psychology from NMSU. While he has lived long enough in Las Cruces to call New Mexico home, he will forever be an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan.
