Back in 2022, the Green Chamber of Commerce funded a research group to look into the economic impacts of the Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks. Friends of OMDP, and many other organizations have been using findings of this report to emphasize the positive impacts protected landscape has on our community. This includes:

• Visitation has more than tripled from 183,900 to 612,781 in 2022. This exceeds initial predictions that establishing the monument would double visitation.
• Total cumulative impact of OMDP since designation are more than $234 million, including $35 million of positive economic impacts in 2022
